Stripping It Back by Billy Dixon (Self-help/Non-fiction)

Billy Dixon has been described in the media as one of Europe’s leading authorities and commentators on personal projection, communication and team dynamics.

He has advised national and international leaders and lists many well-known blue chip companies as his customers. Working extensively in the political, media, sports and corporate arenas has given Billy an insight into winning habits of successful people. It is this experience that Billy brings to all of his presentations. “If it doesn’t work I don’t include it” is his mantra.

This practical approach has made Billy a very popular conference speaker where he has been described as inspirational, fun and informative.

Developing a book with Billy Dixon

Just before the end of last year, Billy Dixon came into SRC to do a multi-camera recording in the lecturer theatre. He presented three sessions which were captured on video and gave both second and first year students on the BTEC National Diploma in Media Production the opportunity to gain experience in filming a live show.

Over the past few months, Billy and I have been looking at how we could develop a book version of his talks, as many of his clients are eager to go home with a hard copy. Today we began to record some audio of Billy’s work and simultaneous transcript his words into text, using Dragon’s Naturally Speaking 10 speech recognition software. Over a two hour period we managed to transcribe nearly 8,500 words. Using this process is helping us to cut down the writing time for the book, but still requires time for editing (a crucial stage for any production and one that should never be neglected). Over the summer we are looking forward to developing the graphical elements that will compliment Billy’s words.

Developing Billy’s book leads Gullion Media Limited into a new avenue of publishing. Hopefully, this will inspire further non-fiction books. We’ll keep you posted with the progress we make and look forward to seeing our first non-fiction book in print.
